Palm Pre or iPod? Both!

by Bobby on June 24, 2009

One of the groundbreaking things about the iPhone is that it combined an innovative phone with much-beloved iPod features, and that fact was not lost on Palm as they prepared the Pre for release.

Pre syncing with iTunes

It appears that Palm has got iTunes fooled, because the Palm Pre is detected as an iPod when connected to a computer. My entire music library (with the exception of DRMed tracks bought from the iTunes store, which still sells some labels’ music encrypted) was quickly synced onto the Pre, and at first glance, the music appears and plays fine on the Pre. One less reason to carry an iPhone…

Picked up Palm Pre today

by Bobby on June 21, 2009

Sprint Store Palo Alt

I picked up a Palm Pre today at Sprint Store #521 in downtown Palo Alto, CA. I am a new Sprint customer and was pleasantly surprised by the sales and setup process. I was expecting a fairly sleazy experience, but instead the experience was incredibly decent. The store had multiple units in stock (they told me they were the only one in the San Francisco Bay Area that still had them, so I guess I was lucky).

I’m going to post more about my in-store experience, as well as introduce myself in a future post. For now, the Pre is slowly charging over USB.
